Menu Plan Monday: Changes in the Menu

Hello again!  Last week’s menu was a real hit.  Our favorite was the potato soup.  In fact, it was so good that we’re having it again this week. Pictures and the recipe are coming soon.

We are on a streak of eating all of our leftovers for lunch.  That’s a really good thing for the food budget, but my planned left-over night has gone a little awry.  So, this week we’ll have a meal planned for almost every day.  If I need to, it is easy to take something off the menu, but it can be very hard to be put on the spot.  After all, a meal plan is just a guide.

Ground Turkey was on sale for $1.00 per pound this week, so I bought a lot of it.  I will be trying to convert some of my recipes that call for beef and pork to turkey in the coming weeks.  I hope that it works out well!  At that price, we’ll learn to like it, though.

Menu for February 14-20, 2011

Breakfast:  Choice of

  • Pancakes
  • Oatmeal
  • Smoothie
  • Cereal
  • Muffins

Lunch:  Choice of

  • Left-over’s
  • Quesadilla
  • Grilled Cheese
  • Chicken Rice
  • Sandwich
  • Macaroni and Cheese with Chicken Nuggets or Fish sticks
  • Sack Lunch

Supper: 

  • Monday:  Steak Dinner (for my Valentine)
  • Tuesday:  Potato Soup
  • Wednesday:  Baked Lemon Chicken, rice pilaf
  • Thursday:  Porcupine Balls
  • Friday:  Spaghetti, Garlic Bread
  • Saturday:  Tortilla Soup
  • Sunday:  Free Day

They don’t appear on the menu, but our meals do include fruits and vegetables.  I like to wing that.  It seems that if I have a plan for the main dish, the rest falls into place.  Free day is not necessarily a day off from cooking for me.  I leave it blank so that I can cook the dish that I didn’t cook earlier in the week, or so we can have a little spontaneity in our lives!
